There has never been a better time to get started with data collection and analytics! This is how we jump-started one organization’s digital strategy.
Video transcript: Hi, thanks for clicking to watch. Today I’m presenting to you a project that we were recently hired to help with. Our client was unsure of their client demographic, they had no intentional data collection system in place so they were unsure which levers to pull to grow sales, they had the start of a social media presence, and they wanted to increase revenue.
So in short, this is what we did.
First, we put in place analytics software that tracked demographic information for users who made purchases on their website. We then compared online purchases versus total purchases and discovered that most of the organization’s purchases came from their website or links to their website through social media. On a go-forward basis, the client is now able to track exactly where their purchases are coming from, from which channel and exact revenues.
In addition, the client wanted to set a budget for advertising on social media channels, however since no prior tracking or demographic analysis had been done, we advised them to wait. Now that we are monitoring analytics – and will continue to monitor for some time to observe for changes – we have a much clearer picture where the client should be allocating their advertising dollars.
